While in the article, click on the Save icon on the top right hand corner of Feedly. You will save a Saved indication on the top middle section. Clicking the Save icon will unsave the article.

10 STEPS TO TROUBLESHOOT YOUR ZTE OR HUAWEI MODEM

Due to the large number of complains I get on countless occasion from different modem users, I have decided to make this post that can help you fix some bug and troubleshoot your modem. There are several reasons why you re unable to connect your modem to your PC to access the internet. some many have complained of "device disconnected" or device not available when they try to connect their modem to the internet. Sometimes SIM is not detected or SIM is said to be invalid. And sometimes you get the message on modem installation that says "Device not successfully install" or you get device "driver not found".

Now the One million dollar question is; how are you to go about this? how do yo get alll these solve to get your modem in a working condition.Should I get a new modem in this case?

Now before You think of getting a new modem, try the following steps caully and make sure you hid to every instruction.

[1] 1ST MAKE SURE THE SIM IS PROPERLY INSERTED

You should probably see direction for use on your modem pack or right on the modem that shows you the correct way to insert SIM into your modem

[2] MAKE SURE YOUR MODEM IS UNLOCKED OR YOURE USING THE RIGHT SIM

With the advent of Customized Modem from different network provider, youre are sure to get an error message that shows SIM is not accepted when you insert SIM from another network provider. You can get passed this by simply getting your Modem unlocked so it can accept SIM from other network provider.

[3] MAKE SURE U USE THE APPROPRIATE APN SETTINGS FOR YOUR HUAWEI OR ZTE DEVICE

Make sure you create a profile on your modem bearing the right APN settings for the right SIM inserted. You can create several profile as much as you please.

You can kindly unistall the modem software (dashboard) and try re-installing it in a Safe Mode (...I guess youre already know how to do this ).Its as simple as holding or taping F8 on your PC before window loads... just as soon as you press the power button or press F1 on our desktop and type Safe mode to search for more info)

[5] MAKE SURE YOUR FIREWALL IS NOT BLOCKING YOUR MODEM SOFTWARE TO CONNECT DIRECTLY TO THE INTERNET

You should also make sure that your firewall is not preventing internet connect from your device. You can do a proper check and try connecting again.

[6] MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A DATA PLAN THAT IS ACTIVE FROM EITHER GLO, ETISALAT, MTN, OR AIRTEL E.T.C

Yes, Its true, not all SIM can browse no matter what you do to that SIM. All SIMs are made differently

[8] CHECK IF MORE THAN ONE MODEM IS INSTALLED ON YOUR SYSTEM AND DELETE THE ONES YOU DONT NEED.

It has happened to me. I installed several modems on my PC. When I tried connecting it says "device disconnected", when I uninstalled all the modems, I installed only one and it started working. I noticed also that, it also work on USB ports and doesnt work on the other. But after the above step, it all got solved.You can uninstalled them from your control panel through uninstallation.

[9] YOU CAN RESTART YOUR SYSTEM AND TRY CONNECTING ONCE AGAIN.

If youve done the above steps, then you can quickly do a restart so as to beginning connection on a fresh note

[10] FINALLY YOU CAN EITHER FLASH AND RE-INSTALL THE MODEM FIRMWARE OR DO AN UPDATE.

You should do this if only the above mentioned steps proved abortive. This very steps helps you to flash, re-install and update to your modems firmware and Dashbord. This is the final antidote to any stubborn modem.

Once your comments are live, you can still, as the author of the comments, be allowed to remove it if you wish to do so. Just click on the down arrow button and click on the Remove option.

How to Change Your Blogger Homepage

Yesterday, I decided to change my homepage to show a list of the articles that I have posted by different categories. I thought I will share with you on the process of redirecting your default Blogger page to a new page.

While you are logged into Blogger, go to Pages and select New page > Blank page.

This blank page will be your new homepage. Design and write up the page according to what you plan for your homepage. Once you have complete that, go ahead and publish it.

Browse to the new page and locate the URL in the address bar of your browser. Copy (Ctrl-C) the portion of the URL that comes after .blogspot.com (including the forward slash), up till the .html

Go to Settings > Search Preferences, and click on Edit under Custom redirects

In the From section, type /.

In the To section, paste the portion you have copied earlier.

Click Save followed by Save changes.

Perform a search by an image

Google the search giant has introduced a search by image functionality in its image search engine. I am very much sure that although days before it has been introduced, most of us dont know about this. I stumbled upon this feature while I was searching for an image using Google image search.
I dragged a photograph to the search bar and it automatically redirected to the Google web search result of the photographs. It seemed very interesting for me. Previously we all are used to do this task by proceeding multiple steps, we were required to click on the image then again had to click the Visit page link to find out the actual story related to that particular image. So by introducing this functionality Google has really shortened  the process of finding out the root of an image.

I am writing this article only to share this new feature which remains as a hidden secret for most of us. I will be discussing the process in the following paragraph. This is a very short process involving only 3-4 steps. You can take the help of following GIF.

First download the Google Book Downloader Lite, which is a free open-source utility.

Head down to Google Books and under the My Library view, perform an Advanced Book Search. Make sure you select the Full View Only option in addition to your search parameters.

After you have selected the book you want from the search results, click on the About this book link on the left and grab the url from the address bar.

Stick the URL into the Google Book Downloader tool and wait for the extraction process.

Once completed, you will find each page of the book output in PNG format. Note that the images will be extracted to an arbitrarily named folder (like v0qAh2gHd4YC)

How to Save a Web Page as a PDF in Google Drive

If you want to browsing a web page in Chrome and would like to save a copy in PDF format in your Google Drive, here is what you need to do.

First, click on the Print option in the upper right corner of Chrome and click on Google Cloud Print.

How to Get Back Deleted Files from Flash Drive

How to recover deleted files on USB and local disk? This is the most common question and embarrassing problem we all experienced. 

There are times that we accidentally deleted important files and in some reason, we cannot find it anywhere even in recycled bin.
Especially if it is on flash drive because it will not showed on recycle bin. This time, I will teach you the simple and safest way to recover deleted files on USB flash drive and even in local disk.
But first, watch the video I provided to show you how.

In the video, we can see that I recover the calcu.exe  files after deletion using a software. This software is called Advance system Care.

1. Download and Install Advance System Care 6 from www.iobit.com
2. Go to toolbox > Repair . Undelete then select the drive you want to recover
3. Wait until finish loading then search the name of the files you want to recover.
4. Select Restore to original folder and done!.

How to Keep a Simple Time Log using Windows Notepad

If you like to keep track of how you are spending your hours each day, here is a quick and easy way to log your hours using the humble Notepad.

First, create a new text file in Notepad and type in the following in the first line

.LOG

The text must all be in uppercase for this to work. Now close and save the file .

Now, whenever you want to log a new activity, like writing a blog post, taking a break or exercising, just open the file. Notepad will automatically add the current date and time in a new line (see screenshot). You can then add the name of the activity.

As you do this throughout the day, you will have a list of time and associated activity for you to do some basic analysis of how you spend your day.

How to Scan a Document into Evernote

One of the reason I dig Evernote is that it allows me to declutter massively by making paper document redundant - well at least most of it anyway. Each paper that I scan into Evernote is one paper less that I need to keep around my desk.

There are many ways to do this, but Ill talk about some of the ways that I do with Evernote.

1) Using your Webcam as a Simple Scanner

This is a quick and dirty way to scan a paper but it works best with notes that are typed or written on a small  piece of paper as opposed to a full page document. If you have a front-facing webcam on your laptop - like I do - or clipped onto your computer, this is a relatively quick way to scan a simple note. Probably takes you  30 seconds to do it. I have an example on how to create a webcam note in an earlier post.

2) Scanning a Note using a Flatbed Scanner

This is my workhouse to do scanning on a larger scale - anything from seminar notes, invoices, my daughters drawings, certificates to old photographs. The possibilities are endless. I use this in conjunction with Googles Picasa software (you can download it for free here) so that I can touch up the image if required and quickly export it to Evernotes watch folder, where Evernote - if opened and active - will automatically monitor and import into your default notebook.

3) Send a Digital Document or Image Directly to Evernote

Next to paper clutter, another worse type of clutter is digital clutter. Left unattended, the stuff in your computer will build up over time and scream for maintenance. When you try to organize the files on your computer the next time, besides deleting unwanted files, you should take some time to export these digital files directly to Evernote and remove them from your computer. Its as simple as a right click and send.

How to Silence an Incoming Call on Your iPhone

You are in a meeting and your iPhone rings. You cant pick up the call right now but you know you just need another 30 seconds to walk out to take the call. You can let the phone continue ringing but that would be annoying for the other people in the meeting.

The quick fix is to press the sleep/wake button located on the top right of your phone or either of the volume controls (+ or -) on the left of your iPhone. Your iPhone will stop ringing or vibrating. However, the caller will still hear the ringing you take the call.

How to Do Your Math using Spotlight for Mac

Have you ever had those times when you needed to do a quick calculation while working on your computer but didnt have a calculator handy. Of course, most OS will come with their own custom calculator but even opening the application may take a while. If you are using a Mac and already doing a lot of searches using Spotlight, you can try this trick.

Like in Google search, you can simply type in the math operations inside Spotlight and get the results straight away, like in the screenshot below.

Beyond the simple arithmetic like addition, subtraction and division (/), you can also perform advanced math operation like powers (e.g. 8^5), square root (e.g. sqrt(1358)) and trigonometric functions (e.g. sin (100))
